WebRatio simplifies the creation of Gewiss professional smart home systems

gewiss logoLeonardo, how do you use WebRatio Platform at Gewiss, and what advantages do you find in low-code technology?

L.A.: We use WebRatio Platform to develop and extend the home automation applications of Gewiss’s Smart Gateway App and Restart Wi-Fi. We don’t call them apps because they are professional systems designed following our company’s three fundamental principles: comfort, safety, and energy management for our customers.

WebRatio Platform’s low-code technology has proven to be fast and reliable for the creation of complex applications, such as our smart home systems, due to the ease of learning that enables us to immediately use the development environment internally. It also allows us to create a single project and release apps for Android and iOS devices.

What makes Gewiss’s apps complex, and how does WebRatio Platform help you in this case?

L.A.: The applications have two integrated systems: mobile apps provided to customers and web applications for our installers and maintainers. The systems are made up of analysis dashboards and control panels for the complete configuration of the home automation services connected to Gewiss products. During installation and maintenance, customers can ask our professionals to customize the automation according to their habits and needs, and they can then modify them independently using the smartphone apps: lighting, shutters, blinds, each room’s temperature and humidity, anti-intrusion systems, and cameras can be remotely controlled and activated automatically. Customers can even create usage scenarios. If we count the number of features and multiply it by the available configurations, the amount of possibilities for customers is almost limitless.

You said that Gewiss also uses WebRatio Platform internally. How do you work, and what services have you outsourced?

L.A.: We make the web applications for the installers and maintainers, and the WebRatio team supports us with mobile app development. Thanks to the low-code platform, the two groups can use an Agile approach, easily integrating the projects. We run three-week sprints. At the beginning, we agree on the interfaces and functionalities of the applications, and at the end, we integrate and test the systems. In this way, we continuously extend the possibilities of our home automation systems and offer our customers an increasingly modern and personalized user experience.

Speaking of your home automation systems, what is the position of Gewiss and what perspective do you have have on this implementation of IoT technology?

L.A.: Gewiss’s commitment to the Internet of Things is focused on promoting smart home solutions that offer maximum interoperability and the widest choice of devices and are characterized by ease of installation and use, scalability, and proven reliability. The company’s innovative vocation translates into important investments for research and the development of systems that favor home control through the use of mobile devices, allowing the integration of intelligent objects and interaction with wearable devices.
