HPC (High-performance computing[1] and AI (Artificial Intelligence) are the innovations of the moment. They recognized as transformative technologies with the potential to enhance business competitiveness and deliver numerous benefits, not only economically but also socially.
In this context, FFPlus (Fortissimo Plus) is the European initiative to promote the adoption of HPC and Artificial Intelligence by SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and startups.
The FFPlus initiative seeks to support experiments to solve specific business challenges and studies to innovate products and services using AI and LLMs across various sectors, including healthcare/life sciences, ICT, administration, finance, geography, media, energy, and engineering.
FFPlus builds upon the achievements of the Fortissimo project series, which left a significant mark on HPC and business innovation in Europe. Thanks to Fortissimo (2013-2016), Fortissimo 2 (2015-2018) and FF4EuroHPC (2020-2023), over 130 experiments were conducted with the involvement of 330 partners, resulting in 120 success stories. These outcomes have encouraged many European companies to adopt new digital technologies in production (Industry 4.0) and develop innovative products and services that strengthen the European Union's economy.
The collaboration between WebRatio and RES Group gave birth to the ALGO project, which has been included among the 18 European projects selected in the Innovation Studies category of FFPlus.
This is just the first step of a three-year roadmap to integrate LLMs and Low-Code, enhancing the potential and performance that developers and companies can achieve through the synergy of these two technologies.
