 Running Windows 8

Just installed Java 7 Update 67 (build 1.7.0_67-b01)

Hi Roberto,

You can try to create an enviroment variable as in this page http://aprenderaprogramar.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=389:configurar-java-en-windows-variables-de-entorno-javahome-y-path-cu00610b&catid=68:curso-aprender-programacion-java-desde-cero&Itemid=188 with your jdk7.

Best regards,

Verónica Contreras

Apparently, java only runs in Desktop mode.

A friend just told me I have confused Windows 8 Desktop and Start modes.

I have been trying to run the Community Platform from the Start mode, which is not allowed.

My question is now, how do I run the Community Platform in Desktop mode?

Do I have to open a Command prompt, go to a particular directory, run a batch file from there?

Thanks in advance for your help.

PS Good job Microsoft - NOT!

Do I need to change the jvm parameters (e.g. heap size)?

If so, how do I do this, and which values should I use?

I hope someone can help. This looks to be the kind of product I've been looking for since I first started in java over 15 years ago. It would be a pity to fall at the first hurdle.

Just found a post on 'java virtual machine error' from last year.

My problem may be mixing 32-bit and 64-bit java and Webratio.

I'll check it out and let you know how I get on.

Ciao

Hi James,

if you  have a 64-bit operating system, you have to install both 64-bit WebRatio Community Platform and 64-bit Java.

Otherwise, if you are using a 32-bit operating system, you have to install both 32-bit WebRatio Community Platform and 32-bit Java.

Buongiorno,

ho installato anche io il programma su win8.1, ho scaricato jdk 7 ma il problema persiste e mi viene indicato Could not create th JVM.

Esiste un altro sistema per installare il software?

Vi ringrazio

Hi Roberto,

first you should uninstall your jdk 8 and then install jdk 7 and WebRatio Platform.

Hi, James

First you should look if you have all install under the same architecture, por example:

jdk 64 bits, webRatio Plataform 64 bits, S.O 64 bits.

Also have the  JAVA_HOME environment variable configured.

if this does not work, try this: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/software/3539152/how-fix-could-not-create-java-virtual-machine-error-message/
