WebRatio is developed by Web Models, an Italian company established in 2001 as a spin-off of Politecnico di Milano (www.polimi.it).

Our activities focus on:

• a close relationship with the most important and internationally accredited IT research institutes, first of all the ICT institute of Politecnico di Milano

This working style has ensured over the years a continuos growth and expansion: as of today (2010) Web Models has two offices in Italy and one in Ecuador and two competence centers in Spain and Germany.

History

2010: WebRatio 6.0 is launched; it contains brand new features for Business Process modeling and management (BPM), opening new scenarios and application fields. The international expansion continues with a new Competence Center in Romania.

2008-2009: The growing trend of the company doubles and touches 40% in 2008. The business extends abroad with one office in Ecuador and two Competence Centers in Spain and Germany.

2007: WebRatio release 5 is launched and integrated with the Eclipse development platform. All the experiences accumulated in seven years are now included in the de-facto standard Java development environment. WebRatio is strongly used also in the multi-utilities market.

2005-2006: A new major release of WebRatio (4.0) improves expressive power and ease of use. A partner network is organized in Italy, and professional services are extended. WebML and WebRatio are extended for modeling and generating Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) applications.

2002-2004: The number of WebRatio users grows and the software increases its application fields in the industrial, financial and public administration markets. The WebML patent is granted in the US and the book "Designing Data-Intensive Web Applications", cured by Web Models’ researchers, is published by Morgan-Kaufmann. WebML academic program spreads worldwide.

2001:  Web Models s.r.l. is established as a spin-off company of Politecnico di Milano. The company is focused on product development and commercial exploitation of the WebML patent. The first industrial edition of WebRatio (Release 3.0) is built and applied in Acer to build the first unified Web Portal and CMS of EMEA countries.

1999-2000: Thanks to W3I3 project, financed by the European Community, the first version of WebML is defined. WebML is an innovative web domain focused modeling language integrated with a Java code generator.  A patent request for WebML is filed in Italy, US and Europe.

1996-1998: Researchers of the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione of the Politecnico di Milano start a pioneering work on dynamic multi-tier Web application development and create the Autoweb System, the first model-driven code generator.
